What does the future of film look like?
In the future, I want to see quality movies that deal with the deep rooted issues so entrenched in our society but still bring hope, love, and empowerment to the individuals who watch the movies. I want kids and teens to be able to say ‘hey, there’s someone like me, someone I can relate to’ on the big screen. Characters who are flawed and broken but constantly work towards bettering themselves, holding themselves accountable, holding others accountable, and doing everything to the Glory of the Creator.
I want to see characters who are deep and complex, waring with their own internal demons, who learn to stand up for themselves, for others, and for what they believe in. I want to see movies were the themes of love, forgiveness, peace, and joy are properly balanced within the threads of the story.
It’s a deeply burning passion of mine to make those movies.
Why am I asking for donations?
For the next two years I’m doing an apprenticeship through Center for Creative Media: a christian, non-profit film production studio and school in Tyler, Texas. Within that time I have to fundraise 36,000 USD, the money goes toward housing, travel, the projects that help many nonprofit/ministry organizations Center for Creative Media works with, and my continued discipleship training.
My goal at CCM is to learn my craft in an encouraging, caring environment where I can also learn to hold firm to my faith in a competitive industry. While I’m at CCM, I will be serving various non-profits/ministries while learning to make an impact for a lifetime. I want to enter the film industry with excellence, my goal is to reach the industry and world with love.
Almost everything in media influences us these days; from TV shows to movies to commercials to online videos. So many teenagers, young adults, and children dedicate hours of their lives to fictional universes. These shows and movies shape how they view themselves, the world around them, each other, their families, and themselves. The best way to reach them with God’s love is through the media they constantly consume. My passion is to reach them where they’re comfortable, showing them themes of love, joy, acceptance, hope, creativity, perseverance, and patience in the movies they love to watch.
How can you help?
You can make a one-time donation. It doesn’t have to be much, even five dollars helps. You can also opt to make a weekly, monthly or yearly donation. The donations are tax-deductible, at least within the US (for those of you outside of the US, I suggest looking up tax laws and such), both one time and continuous donations.
Fifty-five people dedicating themselves to donate 30 USD a month over the next two years is about 39600 USD, which not only covers my fundraising but it gives me an extra 150 USD for expenses such as food, emergencies, etc. Fifty people dedicating themselves to donate 30 USD a month over the next two years is exactly 36000 USD which completely covers my fundraising. One-hundred people donating 15 USD a month over the next two years also covers my fundraising.
