Chit Chat: Writing & Editing Update

It’s been a little while since I’ve chatted with y’all on this blog and I decided it’s time to take a quick moment to update y’all on my current work in progress and just life in general.

I’m sure there are a whole slew of other things that I’ve done this past month, but I’m just writing down the most important of them on the subject of writing.

We Fall Down Novel

My NaNoWriMo novel, We Fall Down, is – as I’ve said a hundred times over the past month and a half – nearing the end.  The month-long break I took after NaNoWriMo and the school semester beginning again have not been helpful to my novel’s progress, so while I still have a tentative release date of mid-March, I may be pushing it back a month or so to make We Fall Down a summer novel rather than spring.  Despite these setbacks, I have hit 60.4k in my word count and my first draft word count goal is still 65k.

I reached those word count goals just in time because of the Caffeine Challenge. What is the caffeine challenge?  Caffeine Witchcraft, a Tumblr blogger and writer, challenges herself and anyone else who participates to write for an hour, based on a prompt or prompts she chooses. I participated in the challenge two days in a row and while I only added about 4k to my word count, I got the story going again, it’s just a matter of me being able to sit still for long enough to finish the novel.

Hopefully, by the time the next set of Caffeine Challenges are posted, I’ll be done with this work in progress and I can focus on expanding and editing PROJECT Lemonade – before I re-plot and outline We Fall Down. OK, it’s looking like this’ll wind up becoming a may novel.  I’ll keep y’all updated.

Writing Masterlist

This weekend I started compiling all of my Tumblr writing into a master list. I never realized how much stuff I’ve actually written til I put it together.  It totals over a hundred little drabbles, bits of stories, filled prompts, and poems with more to come and it only encompasses what I’ve written and posted on tumblr since I created my official account in October.  It doesn’t even include the little snippets I’ve written on my previous tumblr account, my blogs, on Wattpad or even on twitter (for the most part, this month I started cross-posting stuff though.)!

It’s really reassuring to see all I have managed to do and accomplish in the past couple of months despite life, stress, and school. Lately, I’ve been feeling like I haven’t gotten much creative writing in but between all my social platforms and my novel – plus planning the prequels – I have gotten quite a bit of writing done.

I’m still updating the master list and I plan to add links to Wattpad and twitter writing, next weekend, so then I’ll have a better grasp of what I’ve been doing writing-wise over the last six months or so.

What have y’all been up to this month?

I’ve been up to a few other random things; like right now I’m editing a film project for school, I’m working on a speech for a class, and I’m compiling blog posts for Our War Against Reality (so I can have regular updates without scrambling to get a blog post up every week.). I also finished updating and customizing my main website for the moment.

Also, if you guys are in need of book covers at the moment, you contact me and we can chit chat about the details.  I’m currently making them for free, but it won’t be like that for much longer.

Sorry, it’s been a while since I’ve scribbled here, but I don’t like posting unless I have a bit to say.

Stay Safe.
